Dry cleaning is a specialised method of cleaning clothes and fabrics that uses non-water-based solvents to remove dirt, stains, and odours. It is called "dry" cleaning because it doesn't involve the use of water as the primary cleaning agent, unlike traditional laundry methods. Instead, a liquid solvent is used to clean the garments.

The dry cleaning process involves the following steps:

  1. Inspection: Your clothes will be inspected for visible stains, damage, and any special care instructions on the care label. Laundryheap's customer service team will notify you of any pre-existing damage or stains found. Our partner facilities will do their best to treat your item, however, stain removal is not guaranteed.

  2. Pretreatment: Before the actual cleaning process begins, our partner facility will treat specific stains and spots with specialised cleaning agents to help break down and remove the stains effectively.

  3. Cleaning: The clothes are placed in a machine called a "dry cleaning machine." This machine looks like a large washing machine but uses a chemical solvent instead of water. The garments are gently agitated in the solvent, allowing the solvent to penetrate the fabric and dissolve dirt and stains.

  4. Drying: After cleaning, the clothes are placed in another machine that uses warm air to evaporate the remaining solvent from the garments.

  5. Pressing: Once the clothes are dry, they are steamed and pressed to remove wrinkles and creases, restoring them to a crisp and tidy appearance.

  6. Packing: Items will be delivered back to you on individual hangers. Folding can be accommodated at an extra cost, if you would like your item to be folded please add it as a special request and speak to our customer service team for confirmation. Click here to see how to complete these steps.
